Persian rugs

The Persian rug has been counted among the finest rugs in the world for centuries. Born of the Iranian textile tradition (modern Iran being ancient Persia), it embodies a refined visual language that has survived the centuries: curvilinear floral motifs, central medallions, worked borders, carefully balanced colour palettes. Our Persian-style rugs follow that noble tradition faithfully, with a premium density that makes all the difference.

The technical detail that sets our Persian rugs apart is their very high weave density, above 3 million points per m². That is exceptional for a machine-woven rug, and it delivers:

The great Persian inspirations

Our selection draws on several traditions:

• Tabriz: dense floral motifs around a central medallion, a refined beige and ivory palette with burgundy and blue
• Isfahan: elegant curvilinear motifs, a light palette led by ivory and red
• Kashan: a central medallion on deep red or midnight blue, with symmetrical floral motifs
• Kirman: great freedom in the motifs, often floral on a pale ground
• Qum: extremely fine, with highly detailed motifs

Where to put a Persian rug

The Persian rug has always belonged in the grander rooms. In a classic or period living room, it gives the space a soul straight away, especially in 200×300 cm or larger. In a dining room, it sets off the eating area with real elegance. In an entrance hall or a corridor, it makes an impression from the very first step. In a traditionally styled bedroom, a Persian rug at the foot of the bed creates a refined atmosphere.

Mixing Persian with modern: a strong trend

The Persian rug has broken free of classic interiors. It works beautifully in mixed, contemporary schemes:

• With mid-century design furniture (fifties and sixties)
• In an industrial loft with exposed brick walls
• Alongside modern minimalist pieces (a striking contrast)
• In a boho-chic scheme with folk textiles

The rule: the Persian rug should be the richest thing in the room. Everything else (furniture, walls) should stay quieter so the scheme never tips over.

Traditional colours

The historic Persian colours are burgundy red (the most iconic), midnight blue (the noble one), ivory and beige (for pale Isfahan-style grounds), with accents of emerald green, gold and plum. Our faded vintage versions offer softer, pinker palettes that are very much in favour right now.

Care

The high density and the technical synthetic fibres make upkeep straightforward: vacuum weekly, blot spills straight away with a damp cloth, and avoid long spells in direct sunlight. No complicated specialist cleaning required.
