Good to know
- A rug that extends beyond the furniture anchors the room, one that is too small cuts it up.
- The width then the length, taken on the floor: the most reliable guide.
- When in doubt between two sizes, the larger one usually looks better.

The key answers before you order
Is it hard to look after day to day?
Is it hard to look after day to day?
Not at all. A quick vacuum on a gentle setting, without the rotating brush, is enough to lift the dust and keep the fibres looking good. Just avoid getting the rug wet: if it ever needs it, professional dry cleaning will bring back its full shine.
I'm a bit clumsy. Does the material stain easily?
I'm a bit clumsy. Does the material stain easily?
Wool has a real advantage here: it absorbs liquids slowly, which gives you time to act. The right reflex is the same for all our materials: blot straight away with a dry cloth or kitchen paper, without rubbing. Viscose is more delicate, so be even quicker.
What is the difference between a hand-knotted and a hand-woven rug?
What is the difference between a hand-knotted and a hand-woven rug?
On a hand-knotted rug, the craftsman ties every knot one by one: the pile is dense, soft and very hard-wearing. It is the most demanding technique. A hand-woven rug is made on a hand-operated loom: it is thinner and lighter, with a more graphic look. Both are made by hand in India, and each rug's technique is listed in its specifications.
Can it be used with underfloor heating?
Can it be used with underfloor heating?
Yes. Our natural-fibre rugs let the heat through and are suitable for underfloor heating.
Why choose a handmade rug over a standard one?
Why choose a handmade rug over a standard one?
For its character and how long it lasts. A factory-made rug is flat and identical to thousands of others. A handmade rug has slight variations in colour and texture that give it depth and make it unique. Looked after well, it will stay with you for many years.
