THE RUG IN DETAIL
Gros plan sur la laine du tapis d'escalier berbère Melgad, poil orange et bordeaux noué à la main
NATURAL MATERIALS

Long, springy hand-knotted wool

The whole top of the rug is sheep's wool: that is what you see and touch. The base threads contain a little cotton, for strength. There is no glued backing: you can see the knots on the back, as on any hand-knotted rug. The pile is long and springy. The fringes end in tassels, and you can have them at both ends, at one end, or not at all, at no extra cost. There are very slight variations from one rug to the next: that is the mark of handmade work.

  • Sheep's wool (100%): a warm, strong wool that stands up well to heavy foot traffic.
  • Hand-knotted in Morocco: each stripe is knotted by hand, over several weeks.
  • Made to measure, to the centimetre: the width and length you give us, and the fringes the way you want them.

Your questions about made to measure

The essential answers before ordering your Berber rug

How do I order a rug in my own dimensions?

Enter the width and length you want, to the centimetre, in the configurator. The price appears instantly: it depends on the surface area of your rug. If your dimensions match a standard size, its exact price applies. Your rug is then knotted to your exact dimensions.

Can I choose the fringes?

Yes, at no extra cost: fringes on both ends, on one end or no fringes. You make this choice when ordering, just below the dimensions.

Will my rug look exactly like the photo?

Each piece is knotted by hand, so it is unique: patterns and density may vary slightly from the photo. These small irregularities are the signature of handwork.

How long does delivery take?

Your rug is made after you order and delivered within 3 weeks. Delivery is free and a tracking link is emailed to you when the parcel leaves.

Can I return a made-to-measure rug?

Yes. As across the whole site, you have 30 days after delivery to return your rug, even when made to your dimensions. Returns are free.

How do I care for a wool Berber rug?

Vacuum regularly without a rotating brush to preserve the pile. If there is a stain, blot it straight away with a dry cloth, without rubbing. For a deep clean, entrust it to a professional rug cleaner.

Where does this rug come from?

It is hand-knotted in Morocco, in mostly sheep’s wool on a wool and cotton base, following the craft of Berber rugs.
